Technology, Connection, and Early Lessons in Veteran Wellness Engagement
Research Brief No. 001 | June 2026
The Massachusetts Veterans Suicide Prevention Institute (MVSPI) is pleased to release its inaugural research brief presenting findings from the Frontline Connect Phase I pilot. This report examines participant feedback, operational observations, and lessons learned regarding the role of technology, human connection, and peer support in veteran wellness engagement.
While preliminary, the findings suggest that technology may be most effective when used to strengthen human connection, community engagement, and support networks rather than replace them.
Key Findings
- 32 veterans enrolled in the pilot
- 11 participants completed post-pilot surveys
- Participants consistently requested greater peer-to-peer engagement opportunities
- Human connection emerged as a stronger theme than automation
